Various new and old models (but more common in older units) of Epson printers might fail to enroll with the IQrouter WiFi because they fail to negotiate the credentials correctly or they require a legacy setting for WiFi.
The first step to try is to follow the instructions for your specific model of Epson and run their setup utility while cabled to the printer via USB. Go ahead and configure it for WiFi, selecting the IQrouter WiFi name and providing the password you configured.
If that does not allow the printer to connect or be reachable, then the problem is that the printer is using legacy WiFi protocols to communicate and we need to downgrade the IQrouters Wifi to allow the printer to connect.
If your IQrouter has firmware v1.4 or newer follow these steps:
- Log into the IQrouter admin UI at iqrouter.menu (or http://192.168.7.1)
- Select Configure->WiFi
- Click on the tab labeled ‘Unique’
- Click the ‘Legacy’ checkbox in the 2.4Ghz radio settings
- Click the Apply button
If your IQrouter is firmware v1.3.x or older, follow these steps:
- Log into your IQrouters administration interface by going to iqrouter.menu (or http://192.168.0.1)
- Once the Overview page loads, select Advanced->Advanced Menu
- Then select Network->WiFi
- Click the 'Edit' button for Radio0 (the 2.4Ghz radio)
- Then click 'Advanced settings' tab, now you see a control called "HT mode (802.11n)"
- Select the drop-down next to "HT mode (802.11n)" and select 'disabled'
- Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click 'Save & Apply'
